A food truck or trailer can be inspected by one authority, permitted by another, and required to prove where it is serviced and stored — and the answer changes depending on whether you operate in one city, one county, or across the state.

Texas mobile food vendor licensing changed on July 1, 2026. Mobile units are now licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services at the state level rather than through each local health department, and licenses are issued in tiers based on how much food preparation happens on board. We work with the current rules every day, so your application reflects what actually applies now.

It covers our review of your information, preparation and submission of your application, correction and resubmission if the agency returns an error, inspection-preparation guidance, and support from our in-house team until your permit is issued. Government, inspection, licensing, filing, and late fees are charged separately by the applicable authority.
We offer a permit-or-service-fee-back guarantee. If your permit is not issued and you met the eligibility and cooperation requirements — accurate information, documents submitted on time, government fees paid, and cooperation with inspections and agency requests — we refund the $250 service fee. Government and inspection fees paid directly to an agency are not refundable by us.
